So, I’m standing in this recording studio in Clovis, New Mexico, with my cousin. This is 1957. We’re watching some scraggly guys strumming on guitars and the drummer is beating on a cardboard box. I listen for a while as they practice a tune and I turn to my cousin, motioning to the lead singer and say, “This guy is going no place!” Well, of course the tune is “Peggy Sue” and the lead singer is Buddy Holly. It isn’t the last time I will be wrong.
